CLOSEYE Project at ED4BG

CLOSEYE Project at ED4BG

22 MAY 2014

ED4BG presents Europe’s border-guard community with an opportunity to share experiences and best practice. It provides a forum for topical discussion, exchange of views between key border-management players, and a platform to bring together the worlds of public service and private industry.

One of the event’s key objectives is to foster a community of EU border guardianship with shared values and priorities. Above all it is an expression of appreciation and celebration of Europe’s border-management authorities and their personnel.

CLOSEYE takes part in the “European Day for Border Guards”

Last May 22 Closeye participated in the "European Day for Border Guards" (ED4BG), annual event organized by FRONTEX which took place in Warsaw, Poland.

CLOSEYE Project was invited to present the advances within the exhibition hosted by Frontex, for National Border Authorities and the European Funded Research Projects. In the CLOSEYE dedicated stand, the results obtained after the first year of work carried out in the early phases of the project, were made available to all attendees of the event.

This year´s edition of ED4BG was focused not only on highlighting the work of European border guards, but also the ethical an technical complexities caused by mass migration. In this context, CLOSEYE gives special emphasis to the testing under real conditions, the detection and tracking of small vessels used for cross-border crime and irregular migration in the Mediterranean Sea, thereby also contributing to the protection and saving of migrants' lives.

Other EU funded research projects related to border control and suveillance were also invited, such us, ABC4EU, LOBOS Project, PERSEUS Project, SAGRES or TRITON Project among others.
